Your Perspective Can Change Everything...

Have you ever looked back and realised that nothing around you had changed… but something in you had?
Most of us spend our lives waiting for something to change.
A new opportunity.
A different diagnosis.
A repaired relationship.
A financial breakthrough.
A clearer answer.
We tell ourselves, “When that changes, everything will be different.”
Sometimes it is.
But often, life changes in a quieter way.
Not because our circumstances suddenly improve.
But because, somewhere along the journey,
we begin to see them differently.
I’ve often reflected on my own life
and realised there were seasons when very little changed around me.
The questions remained.
The uncertainty remained.
The waiting remained.
Yet something had shifted.
Not around me.
Within me.
Without even noticing it, I had become more patient.
More resilient.
More compassionate.
More willing to trust God with what I couldn’t control.
Looking back, I realised that while I was asking God to change my circumstances, He was gently changing me.
Perhaps that’s one of the greatest gifts of perspective.
It doesn’t erase reality.
It doesn’t deny pain.
It doesn’t pretend that difficult things aren’t difficult.
Instead, it gives us the ability to see beyond this moment and recognise that even here, growth is taking place.
I think that’s why gratitude is so powerful.
Gratitude doesn’t always begin by changing what we have.
It often begins by changing what we notice.
And what we notice eventually shapes how we think.
How we choose.
How we respond.
How we live.
It’s easy to overlook those quiet changes
because they rarely happen all at once.
Growth is usually slow enough that we don’t notice it while it’s happening.
Until one day we realise…
We’re responding differently.
We’re worrying less.
We’re extending more grace.
We’re choosing hope more often.
We’re becoming the person we once prayed we would be.
Perhaps that’s why reflection matters.
It allows us to recognise the growth that busyness often hides.
As another week comes to a close, don’t just ask yourself what happened this week.
Ask yourself something deeper.
Who am I becoming?
That question may reveal more than you expect.
Reflection
As you look back over this week…
What challenged you?
What surprised you?
What strengthened you?
And where can you see that something in you is changing, even if your circumstances haven’t?
This weekend, I choose to notice not only what is happening around me,
but also the quiet work that is happening within me.
If You Remember One Thing From My Blog…Remember This...
Sometimes the greatest changes in our lives are the ones no one else can see.
They are the quiet changes that shape the person we are becoming.
